Rapid Response Crisis Worker

What the Role Involves

As a Rapid Response Crisis Worker, you will be based at an assigned A&E department to provide:

  • Supervision, reassurance and safety support to individuals awaiting mental health acute beds
  • In-reach support to NHS teams, working collaboratively with clinical staff
  • Escort support for patient transfers between hospitals or wards
  • Calm, confident management of complex or challenging presentations
  • Professional, compassionate support that prioritises dignity and safety

Shift Pattern

You must be able to work flexibly across a 7-day rota, covering:

  • 08:00 – 20:00 (days)
  • 20:00 – 08:00 (nights)
  • 11:00 – 22:00 (days)

Hospital Sites Covered

You may be assigned to one primary site but must be able to work across the full geography when required:

  • Leighton Hospital, Cheshire
  • Macclesfield General Hospital, Cheshire
  • Arrowe Park Hospital, The Wirral
  • Countess of Chester Hospital, Cheshire

We always try to allocate workers to their nearest base. In cases of increased demand, you may be required to travel further. Mileage expenses are paid from your nearest base (excluding taxis). A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking confident, experienced and resilient individuals who can thrive in crisis settings. You should have:

  • Experience working in mental health, acute, crisis or similar environments
  • The ability to remain calm, professional and supportive during challenging situations
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work within a busy A&E environment
  • A proactive, compassionate approach to supporting people in distress

Full induction training is provided.

Contracts are for 6 months initially, with the option to extend.

Requirements

  • Experience in mental health, social care or healthcare (1 year preferred)
  • Full driving licence
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts
  • Enhanced DBS and pre-employment checks

Work Location: One primary hospital location (with flexibility across the region when required).
