Category Manager

North West

£60,000 - £65,000 (inc. £6.5k car allowance)

Role Overview

As Category Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping category strategy and championing consumer insight to deliver growth. You’ll build strong relationships with key retail partners, influence decision making through data-driven storytelling, and work closely with internal teams to turn insights into winning product and promotional plans.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing key retail accounts with regular client meetings to drive category growth.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with retail contacts across multiple channels.
  • Delivering regular, actionable internal category reviews using data and insight.
  • Providing analytical support in the creation of internal and customer category plans.
  • Collaborating with Sales and Product Development teams to share insight and trend updates.
  • Evaluating commercial and NPD ideas using shopper research and data tools.
  • Supporting product benchmarking and development sessions.
  • Conducting regular store visits to assess fixtures, ranges, and promotional activity, feeding back actionable recommendations.
  • Acting as the consumer’s voice in all development activity and championing the business as a category authority.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is curious, analytical, and commercially astute, with a genuine interest in food and consumer trends.

You’ll bring strong communication skills and a track record of turning insight into action.

Key skills, experience & qualificatons

  • A degree (or equivalent) and proven experience in Category Management, ideally within FMCG (Food) and Private Label.
  • Demonstrable customer-facing experience with strong relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with retail data sources such as Kantar, Nielsen, and EPOS.
  • Experience combining multiple data points to build compelling category stories and influence key stakeholders.
  • Excellent presentation and analytical skills, with the ability to spot trends and opportunities.
