FULL DESCRIPTION

Location: Bedfordshire (commutable from Bedford, St. Neots, Luton, Royston, Milton Keynes, Cambridge etc.) Salary £44k-£55k.

Manufacturing Manager`s responsibilities:

  • Leading the manufacturing team, managing complex manufacturing projects, working on development and implementation of strategies for process improvement and commercial success.
  • Supporting Production Engineering being involved in the manufacturing planning process, resource estimation, bidding for work, support commercial activities, portfolio development.
  • Exploring new technologies, forecasting capacity and capability, working in line with company strategies, managing turnover and headcount, liaising with the internal technical managers and clients.
  • Mentor and support less experienced engineers, provide appraisals, clear instructions.
  • Prepare project documentation, working within budget and to project schedule, observe quality standards and H&S procedures, engineering reviews.

Manufacturing Manager`s requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent practical experience in Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Engineering or similar
  • At least 5 years of recent and relevant experience in Manufacturing or Production Management within a R&D environment
  • Extensive knowledge of design, manufacturing and production procedures, machines, tools, and manufacturing techniques used in the manufacture of tightly tolerance metallic componentry.
  • Experience in leading and management of complex technical projects, managing teams and strategy, line management and support, scheduling and budgeting skills.
  • Project management experience using tools and methodologies, line management and ability to support more junior engineers and technical staff.
  • Good understanding of 6 Sigma, 5S and Lean manufacturing techniques
  • Strong problem-solving skills, excellent time management and communication skills.
