FULL DESCRIPTION

Field Service Engineer (Vehicle Telematics) - Location: Remote. (UK-wide travel, occasional European travel; ideally Midlands-based) Salary: £35k - £42k (DOE) + company car or car allowance + laptop + phone + expenses + performance-related bonus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and resolve complex electrical, telematics, and integration issues on-site and remotely.
  • Interface with CAN Bus, ECUs, and vehicle networks using advanced diagnostic tools.
  • Deliver rapid, structured solutions to minimise fleet downtime.
  • Perform advanced electrical installations and calibrations on 12V/24V emergency vehicles.
  • Configure hardware and software to meet customer requirements.
  • Validate installations and conduct functional testing to ensure seamless integration.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for internal knowledge sharing and customer records.
  • Deliver technical training sessions and product demonstrations to customers.

About You:

  • Recent, proven experience working with automotive electrical systems (12V/24V, wiring harnesses, CAN Bus).
  • Certification or formal training in automotive electrical systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable engaging with technicians, engineers, and senior stakeholders.
  • Experience with telematics systems (integration or troubleshooting) – highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with ECU interfacing, ISO standards, or high-voltage safety in EV/HEV environments – advantageous.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel frequently across the UK (and occasionally Europe).
