The candidate

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic self-starter with at least 7 years’ PQE in commercial property matters. You will be preferably Scottish qualified or dual-qualified lawyer (Scottish and English). You will have experience in advising developers and landowners in their acquisition of wind, hydro and solar sites, and also in advising organisations on renewable energy projects, including hydro, wave, tidal, onshore and offshore wind.

About the role

The successful candidate will be the main point of contact for corporate and commercial clients on all matters relating to renewables. Strong business development skills are essential, as you will be responsible for building and developing the firm’s renewables practice. You will be expected to spend a significant amount of time seeking out opportunities and will approach them with enthusiasm.

You will also be expected to assist our Corporate teams in Edinburgh and London on all aspects of commercial property transactions.

The job is interesting and challenging and you should be able to manage a full workload, to handle the inherent pressure involved and to meet tight deadlines. You should have a friendly, confident manner with clients and be able to give pragmatic, solution-driven and commercial advice within quick response times. You should also be willing to go the extra mile for our clients and the firm by identifying business opportunities for both.

You will be a Partner or Director and will be given autonomy and leeway in developing your own ideas, professional interests and career path. You will also have the chance to travel within the UK to meet with clients and develop business opportunities.
