Job Description for Older People’s Care Home

Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Full-Time Care Assistant in our care home for older people. The successful candidate will work closely with residents to support their wellbeing, dignity, and independence in a friendly and respectful environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with daily personal care tasks, including washing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Support mobility and help residents move safely around the home.
  • Help serving food, and assisting residents as required.
  • Monitor and record health and wellbeing, reporting any concerns to senior staff or medical professionals.
  • Encourage social interaction and participation in activities to promote mental and emotional wellbeing.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment for all residents.
  • Follow care plans and adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Respect residents’ privacy, dignity, and personal choices at all times.

Essential Skills and Qualities

  • Patient, empathetic, and genuinely caring attitude.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to listen attentively.
  • Reliable, flexible, and able to work as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally.
  • Experience in a care setting is desirable but not essential; full training will be provided.

Working Hours and Benefits

This is a full-time position, typically requiring 40 hours per week, including shifts, weekends, and bank holidays as needed. Ongoing training, and opportunities for progression within the care sector.
