Location: London

Work Type: Hybrid

Job Type: Contract

Salary: £310 - £390

Looking for a new way to work? You’re not alone.

[Employer hidden] is growing our exclusive freelance team of FinOps Managers. We’re looking for qualified or part-qualified accountants who have worked in the startup or scaleup sectors and are craving variety, impact, and freedom in their work. You'll likely already hold a 'Finance Manager', 'Management Accountant', ''Financial Controller" post (or similar of course), with a keen focus on building out your portfolio with interim and contracting gigs.

we’re reinventing contracting

Contracting is great – you get to be the boss. But it can leave you out on your own with no real support or community, and the constant hustle for new work can be exhausting.

At [Employer hidden], we’re turning the traditional contracting model on its head. We offer the perks of being an employee, the variety you’d expect as a contractor, and the support and development opportunities of a big firm. It’s the best of both worlds!

meet [Employer hidden]

[Employer hidden] builds embedded fractional teams for startups and scaleups, giving you access to some of the most exciting and innovative businesses in the world.

the role

As a FinOps Manager Contractor, you’ll work directly with founders and leadership teams at startups and scaleups to deliver impactful finance and operational solutions.

Your general scope of work will include:

  • Managing accountancy and finance operations for multiple UK startups and scaleups.
  • Identifying and implementing scalable solutions to automate and optimize systems and processes.
  • Build collaborative relationships with external partners and [Employer hidden]'s own FinOps team.
  • Mentoring and develop [Employer hidden]'s international FinOps Associate team.

You can expect to work fractionally (1–3 days per week per client), supporting several exciting businesses across a typical week.

your experience

  • 5+ years of experience in finance and accounting (startup/scaleup experience mandatory.)
  • Professional finance credentials (e.g., ACCA, ACA or CIMA) preferred.
  • Confident in producing management reporting and implementing financial processes.
  • Experience with cloud-based financial software typically used by startups (e.g., Xero) and tools such as Dext, Pleo or similar.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to build strong relationships.

it’s probably not for you if…

  • You’re looking for a fully remote role – you’ll need to commute to London at least twice a week, often more.
  • You want rigid structures – startups are fast-paced, and we move quickly to adapt.
  • You prefer focus on individual tasks – variety is at the heart of what we do.
