 Location:Eltisley Manor

 Hours: 40.25 Hours Per Week - Night Shifts Only

Salary: £12.60 to £14.36 p/h + Benefits

About The Role

Participation in the application of care plans while ensuring interventions and observations are communicated effectively with senior members of the team.

  • Assisting in the supervision of other healthcare/support staff.
  • Maintaining a safe therapeutic environment, beneficial to the needs of residents, relatives and other carers.
  • Promoting a positive attitude toward mental health & rehabilitation.
  • To work as a support worker (sometimes known as a care assistant) for our residents, with the support of senior staff.
  • To undertake aspects of care with or without direct supervision, including hosting recreational and activity groups, carrying out personal care, observations and escorting duties, such as general hospital visits.
  • To ensure the safety and well-being of our service users, and to always work in a manner that promotes dignity through the adoption of person-centred care principles.

Aside to your hands-on responsibilities, there is also a small amount of administration that you will soon be familiar with, these include:

  • Record keeping.
  • Booking your holidays.
  • Edit/create care-plans.
  • Publish/view your hours.

About You

At least 2 years experience of support work, preferably working with people with mental health illnesses or learning disabilities along with:

  • IT Skills
  • An understanding of how mental health issues can affect people
  • An ability to take direction and to follow detailed policies and protocols
  • Good communication skills: tact, diplomacy and active listening
  • Good organisational skills and time management
  • Flexible and adaptable to change
  • Experience of working as part of a team

Eltisley Manor is our 39-bed registered psychiatric nursing care home located near to St-Neots town centre (Cambridgeshire). The building is divided into different specialist areas caring for men and women aged 18+ suffering from enduring mental health issues and for those people nearing the end of their rehabilitation towards independent living.  You will work as a valued member of our close knit, friendly and highly skilled team providing quality care within a caring, considerate environment.
