Manager (Tax)

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is looking for a Manager (Tax) to deal with complex tax matters, provide advice to clients, and manage a portfolio of clients. Responsibilities include liaising with clients and internal teams, identifying additional service opportunities, and managing HMRC enquiries. The role requires a professional qualification (CTA or equivalent), excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deal with complex tax matters
  • Provide clear concise advice to clients
  • Work and liaise with clients directly to understand their requirements
  • Identify areas where more detailed advice may be required
  • Liaise with internal teams (Accounts, Business Management & payroll) to ensure client affairs are co-ordinated and delivered on time
  • Identify opportunities for any additional services that clients may need and liaise with subject specialists
  • Manage and navigate HMRC enquiries on behalf of the client
  • Manage a portfolio of clients and take responsibility to ensure compliance
  • Provide guidance and assistance to junior members of the team
  • Take responsibility of the billing of clients within your portfolio and associated debt collection
  • Participate in internal Tax Technical training sessions

Attributes, Requirements, Skills

  • Have a professional qualification (CTA or equivalent) – a private client background would be preferable but not essential
  • Able to adapt to a fast paced team, ability to work productively under pressure and to very tight deadlines
  • Ability to undertake technical tax research and reach conclusions to communicate complex concepts to clients
  • Experience in reviewing self-assessment tax returns.
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage workloads, monitor time charges and budgets
  • Committed to maintaining technical knowledge to a high level
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork
  • Self-motivated and able to apply relevant skills to new scenarios
  • Organisation and ability to work under pressure with accuracy and focus
