Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive and versatile Multi-Skilled Technical Operator to join our Production Operations team. This hands-on role offers exposure to multiple areas of live television production, including floor management, master control operations, and support desk engineering.

You’ll work closely with producers, gallery teams, presenters, and technical staff to deliver high-quality live broadcasts, supporting both in-studio and remote productions. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for broadcast creation, live production, and technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support various operational roles including Studio Duties, Master Control, and Support Desk tasks.
  • Operate live broadcasts to ensure seamless and uninterrupted content delivery.
  • Monitor broadcast signals, identify issues promptly, and resolve transmission problems quickly.
  • Provide technical support to remote contributors such as VJs (Video Journalists), ENG (Electronic News Gathering) Camera Operators, and outside broadcast teams.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to troubleshoot and maintain broadcast systems, software, and equipment.
  • Operate video routers and switchers to control video and audio signal flow within the facility.
  • Manage content ingestion into servers and oversee playout systems.
  • Conduct audio and video quality control, ensuring signal integrity, appropriate audio levels, and clear video picture quality.
  • Perform maintenance on broadcast hardware, including servers, encoders, decoders, and transmission equipment.
  • Maintain high attention to detail by monitoring multiple feeds and signals simultaneously, avoiding errors.
  • Multitask efficiently in a fast-paced live environments.

About You

  • Can work flexible shifts (early, mid, and late) aligned with production schedules.
  • Work as part of a team, but able to carry out tasks independently to completion.
  • Desire to learn news skills.
  • Hands-on experience with broadcast production tools and technologies.
  • Positive, adaptable attitude with the ability to perform well under pressure in live broadcast environments.
  • Strong communication skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Proactive problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced, time-critical situations.
