We are seeking an enthusiastic Receptionist to join our Gurkha Welfare Advice Centre (GWAC) team in Aldershot on a fixed-term contract for one year. The role provides office, clerical and administrative support for the delivery of an efficient services by the GWAC Aldershot.

Role Receptionist (Maternity Cover)

Salary £23,000 - £25,500 per annum depending on experience
Contract Type 1 year fixed-term contract
Hours of Work Full-time (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday) in the office
Annual Leave 25 days plus Bank Holidays

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Receptionist is the “face of the Gurkha Welfare Advice Centre Aldershot”. You will be respon-sible for taking and directing calls, handling initial inquiries and assigning cases to the relevant members of the welfare advice staff. You will greet visitors and clients, and arrange appointments as necessary. You will also be responsible for registering new clients and updating clients records in the database as well as assisting with translation and interpreting. You will enjoy playing a key role in helping elderly ex-Gurkha clients and liaising with a wide range of external organisations.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you will have experience of working within a reception or administra-tive support role and of providing a high standard of customer service. You will have good under-standing of the retired component of the Brigade of Gurkhas as well as Nepal and Nepali culture. You will need excellent communication skills and be fluent both in English and Nepali with the ability to deal with a varied range of welfare needs of elderly Gurkha clients through a calm and confident approach to reach a positive resolution. You will have personable and enthusiastic manner as well as good organisational skills and ability to deal effectively with conflicting priorities. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word/Outlook/Excel) is essential.
Experience of Service welfare work and a knowledge of Service and state welfare systems would be helpful.
