FULL DESCRIPTION
Business Development Manager
The role will take responsibility for targeting New Business in respect of Industrial Disease, Military claims and other work sources for the company.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a new business sales plan targeting all routes to exceed budgeted new business targets. Plan to be agreed with the senior manager and to provide regular updates on the plan and any changes
- Manage and maintain an existing customer and new business pipeline report (with an appropriate rating system) Provide regular updates and maintain a good understanding of customer needs and requirements
- Ensure you have full knowledge of all company services and products, understanding the sales propositions for each and be able to advise others about them
- Exceed key account customer and new business targets as set bi annually by the business
- Generate initial new business appointments. Be prepared to cold call prospects where required.
- Deliver the sales process in a professional manner and close new opportunities (across existing and new accounts) in line with projections, to include contract issue and signature
- Manage all new business enquiries generated from Head Office and Marketing
- Work closely with other members of the Sales Team to ensure a high level of service is achieved
- Support and promote Marketing initiatives
- Monitor and report on market and competitor activities
- Provide monthly reports updating activities, pipelines and meetings to Head of Sales
- Attend seminars, conferences and events where appropriate
- Keep abreast of trends and changes in the industry
- Manage and engage with a social media account(s), i.e. LinkedIn and Twitter, to promote the company’s standing and services.
Key Traits of Potential Candidate:
- Prior sales experience with legal sector particularly in Industrial Disease and Military claims customers and law firms
- Successful and proven track record of selling to professionals in a target-driven, sales environment: at least 5 years of B2B and new business sales
- Armed forces background or strong connection to the armed forces (desirable, not essential)
- Ability to generate leads independently
- Self-motivation with strong organisation and time management skills
- Fully competent in Customer Relationship Management systems and pipeline forecasting
- Ability to work under pressure and a desire to succeed
- Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills with a proven track record in delivering commercial performance
- Team player with an impeccable attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
- Excellent presentation, oral and written business presentation skills with various levels of audience
- Consultative approach to sales process
