FULL DESCRIPTION

Transport Planner - Yate

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Transport Planner to join an established transport team based in Yate. This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday, 10:00am - 7:00pm.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and enthusiastic, with previous experience in transport planning and scheduling. Strong geographical knowledge is essential.

Key responsibilities

Create daily transport plans for timber and sheet material deliveries across the South West region
Optimise routing for a fleet of rigid vehicles to maximise efficiency and utilisation
Respond quickly and effectively to changing operational demands and challenges
Communicate clearly with drivers, hauliers, warehouse teams, sales teams, and customers to ensure reliable service
Manage re-deliveries, failed deliveries, customer-specific delivery requirements, and returns
Maintain a strong understanding of HGV operations and load security
Coordinate vehicle inspections, servicing, and repairs
Ensure compliance with driver hours and working time regulations

About you

Previous experience in transport planning or scheduling
Strong geographical knowledge
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
Good understanding of transport compliance and operational best practice
