Development Kitchen Internship

The Development Kitchen Intern will play an integral role in developing food & beverage for project work and co-ordinating day-to-day kitchen maintenance.

The Role

The Development Kitchen Intern will play an integral role in developing food & beverage for project work and co-ordinating day-to-day kitchen maintenance. This position will require a high degree of organisation, and the ability to switch between different kinds of food & beverage needs. The Development Kitchen Intern will support the Head Development Chef in responding to briefs, testing ideas, and maintaining the kitchen. The role will include event-based work, in the UK and abroad, with the opportunity to support the wider studio team on projects.

The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded skillset, or solid fundamentals with a curiosity and drive to learn new things. A keen interest in food culture and the ability to respond to narrative driven concepts will be heavily favoured.

Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation & Cooking

  • Using a wide range of cookery techniques
  • Strong knowledge of cookery basics
  • Assisting in recipe/product/drink development
  • Executing recipes with precision
  • Operating various kitchen equipment

General

  • Assisting in kitchen maintenance – food safety, cleaning, stock management, equipment
  • Responding to project briefs – working with our studio team to interpret concepts and execute ideas
  • Contributing to client presentations
  • Contributing to the Wednesday lunches & other B&P Internal F&B activties
  • Working to project deadlines
  • Working in budget
  • Assisting with wider project and studio needs
  • Travelling off-site for events and location-based experiences
  • Maintaining an excellent standard of personal hygiene
  • Maintaining an excellent standard of work

About You

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Either 2 years+ experience working in commercial cookery, or relevant training qualification
  • Pastry skills a +

  • Passion for food and/or beverage
