We have a fantastic opportunity for permanent Structural Engineers/Bridges Engineers to join our [Employer hidden] Consulting team in Scotland. [Employer hidden] delivers a range of local, national and international infrastructure projects for clients including Transport Scotland, Network Rail, National Highways, Local Authorities and Contractors. We have secured multiple long-term contracts and continue to grow and expand into new regions and markets.

The role involves playing an important part in every stage of a project from inception to completion. Key responsibilities include:
- Implementing the project requirements to fully meet client specification with relevant standards.
- Undertaking any work of a technical nature that falls within ability and competence.
- Preparing and checking design approach, calculations, drawings and documents.
- Carrying out site visits and surveys, inspections and supervising sub-contractors.
- Preparing and checking feasibility studies, inspection, assessment, and technical reports ensuring compliance with [Employer hidden] procedures.
- Being confident to work under minimum supervision and check the work of others.
- Assisting with the supervision, mentoring and development of team members from Graduate Engineers and Technicians through to Assistant Engineers.
- Assisting with contract preparation together with project planning and programming.
- Compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation, particularly CDM regulations.
- Working in a team, producing technically sound engineering solutions.
- Preparation and checking of designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy the criteria of quality, cost and programme.
- Overseeing the actions of more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks and taking responsibility for their actions.
- Liaising with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings, and responding to queries.
- Managing a small, locally based single discipline technical team and taking responsibility for delivery of their workload.
- Contributing to the preparation of bids and general working winning function.
- Driving effective health and safety practices within the team.
What you will bring to us:
- Developed experience and expertise within the Structural engineering field, probably gained in an Assistant Engineer role or equivalent.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in an appropriate subject or demonstrable equivalent further learning.
- Bachelors / Masters degree in Civil / Structural Engineering.
- Chartered status (or working towards it) with ICE, IStructE or CIHT or other appropriate professional body.
- Demonstrable experience in the assessment, design and/or management of bridges.
- Excellent understanding of structural behaviour and analysis.
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards such as DMRB and/or Eurocodes.
- Enjoys working in a team environment; sharing ideas and collaborating with colleagues.
- Proactive approach and commitment to health, safety and welfare.
Desirable:
- Experience with highway structures and major bridges.
- Experience in FE analysis using Lusas, Atena or Midas software.
