Graduate Electrical Design Engineer in Newmarket

Our client, based in Newmarket, is looking to recruit a Graduate Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate (or someone early in their career) to gain hands-on experience in electrical design within a supportive and well-structured environment.

The Role

As a Graduate Electrical Design Engineer, you will work closely with senior engineers and other departments to support the design and development of electrical systems and products. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the design of control panels and switchgear in line with customer requirements and relevant standards
  • Supporting compliance with legislative and safety requirements, with guidance from senior team members
  • Producing electrical schematic and layout drawings using AutoCAD
  • Preparing supporting documentation such as bills of materials and basic test procedures
  • Assisting in the selection of electrical components for UK and international applications
  • Taking part in design reviews and quality checks
  • Working collaboratively with sales, production, and quality teams to provide technical support
  • Developing an understanding of sales engineering and customer requirements over time

About You

To be considered for this Graduate Electrical Design Engineer role, you will ideally have:

  • A degree (or equivalent qualification) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • A basic understanding of electrical design principles (industrial or commercial environments preferred)
  • Some experience using AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical (academic or placement experience welcomed)
  • The ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
  • A proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and strong attention to detail
