FULL DESCRIPTION

Maintenance Engineer

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Engineer to join their Southport manufacturing site. The role involves mechanical problem-solving, maintenance, and improvements across site equipment to minimize production downtime. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment and strong mechanical fault-finding skills.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Responding to mechanical breakdowns and diagnosing faults to minimise production downtime
  • Carrying out mechanical maintenance, repairs, and improvements across site equipment
  • Delivering Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) to improve reliability and performance
  • Supporting installation, relocation, and upgrade of machinery and plant
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with site procedures and legislation
  • Accurately recording maintenance activity and supporting continuous improvement
  • Contributing to a well-organised, cost-effective spare parts system

What we’re looking for:

  • Apprentice-trained or NVQ Level 2 qualified Mechanical Engineer (or equivalent)
  • At least 2 years’ post-apprenticeship experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Electrically competent, with a willingness to further upskill
  • 18th Edition qualification desirable
  • Experience working on industrial manufacturing machinery highly advantageous
  • Able to work independently, make confident decisions, and remain calm under pressure
  • Flexible approach, with some overtime required
  • Comfortable working at height when required
