Job Purpose:  To provide the residents with a diet that is nutritious and one which takes account of the residents’ preferences and needs.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Qualifications:

  •  Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate
  •  City & Guilds 706/1 & 706/ 2 or equivalent
  •  Experience in catering for people with varying dietary needs
  •  Experience in catering for large numbers of people

Principal Responsibilities:

  •  To prepare menus as agreed by the Home Manager and residents
  •  To review menus at regular intervals, involving the residents
  •  To prepare and serve meals in accordance with the menus.
  •  To implement and maintain ordering systems to ensure adequate stock is maintained in line with budget.
  •  To ensure stock items are rotated, considering “use by date.”
  •  To supervise kitchen staff in their duties ensuring these are carried out to the required standard and carry out supervision.
  •  To check all deliveries of food, cross referencing with the order and for quality
  •  To check invoices against goods received monitoring costs and ensuring best value.
  •  To implement cleaning schedules to maintain a clean safe working environment.
  •  To maintain all records as per the homes policies and procedures and as required by other statutory bodies, these include food temperatures, fridge temperatures.
  •  To work in accordance with the homes policies and procedures
  •  To understand and keep within allocated budget.
  •  To attend mandatory training and in house as required and complete mandatory e learning
  •  To ensure all correct records and documentation is completed and up to date.
  •  To ensure Kitchen and satellite kitchens, meet EHO regulations and standards.
  •  Understand and abide by COSSH regulations.
  •  Attend meetings as required.

Health and Safety

To be familiar with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. Any areas of concern must be brought to the attention of the Home Manager or Person in Charge at the time.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: £14.37 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
