Job Description – Assistant Cook

Permanent role, 3-4 days per week
Weekend working required, evening work not required.
Hourly rate negotiable dependant on skills & experience + benefits. Benefits include:

We are seeking an Assistant Cook for our busy café at Lochranza Distillery Visitor Centre. The successful applicant will have kitchen experience in a café or restaurant setting, a genuine interest in quality food production and customer satisfaction, and a flexible, hands-on, can-do attitude.

Duties include:
Assisting the Head Cook in all areas of kitchen operation as follows*.
• Prepping, cooking and plating all items on our light lunch menu.
• Making soups and prepping all stock required for the day in line with established routines.
• Kitchen cleaning and dish washing.
• Maintaining all kitchen records with regards to cleaning, food hygiene and health & safety in line with the Food Safety Policy.
• Baking scones daily, and maintaining stock levels of all home baking.
• Assisting with deliveries, stock control and stock rotation.
• Taking the lead in the kitchen to cover the Head Cook’s days off.
*Full training will be provided in all of these areas.
Required:
• Previous experience of working in a kitchen environment.
• Ability to work equally well independently and as part of the team.
• Attention to detail and can-do attitude.
• Good organisational skills and ability to work under pressure.
