The Systems Support Officer is responsible for maintaining and providing technical support for the organization’s computer systems, networks, and software applications. This role involves troubleshooting and resolving issues, managing user accounts, and ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems. The Systems Support Officer will collaborate with IT teams and end-users to deliver efficient and effective IT support services.
The job responsibilities of Systems Support Officer include:
- Provide technical support and assistance to end-users for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Diagnose and resolve system and application problems, ensuring timely resolution of IT support tickets.
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software applications, and hardware peripherals.
- Manage user accounts, access permissions, and security settings in accordance with organizational policies.
- Monitor and maintain the health and performance of computer systems and network infrastructure.
- Implement software updates, patches, and system upgrades to ensure system security and optimal performance.
- Collaborate with IT teams to deploy and support new software and hardware solutions.
- Assist in the setup and configuration of new workstations and IT equipment for new hires and existing staff.
- Provide guidance and training to end-users on IT procedures, best practices, and the effective use of technology.
- Conduct regular system backups and data recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
*Qualifications and Requirements:*
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Systems Support Officer or in a similar technical support role.
- Strong technical knowledge of operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), software applications, and hardware components.
- Familiarity with network fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and LAN/WAN concepts.
- Experience in configuring and supporting Microsoft Office suite and other business applications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with end-users and team members professionally.
- Customer-oriented approach with a focus on providing high-quality IT support services.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
- Knowledge of ITIL practices and experience using ticketing systems is a plus.
