[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk], an award-winning English Sparkling Wine producer, is seeking a Cellar Door Host for their tasting room in Appledore, Kent. The role involves hosting tastings, providing information about the English wine industry, promoting wines and memberships, and supporting the [Employer hidden] events program. About us
[Employer hidden] is an award-winning English Sparkling Wine producer based in Appledore, Kent. In 2025, we were ranked 28th in the World’s Best Vineyards Top 50, celebrating not only the wines themselves but the hospitality, landscape and experience behind them. We are now expanding the team at our tasting room and visitor centre in Appledore and are looking for a Cellar Door Host (summer seasonal).
Applicants need to be available to work on a Saturday and/or Sunday during June, July and August, at a minimum. There are also options to work additional days during the week, as required.
About the role
You will be the initial face of [Employer hidden] for customers with different levels of wine knowledge, so you’ll have the confidence, people skills, and wine knowledge to be an engaging, friendly host. Based at the Nest in Appledore, you will welcome visitors, give a background to the business and the English wine industry and host tutored tastings of a range of wines. Your duties would also include:
- Acting as the initial point of contact for [Employer hidden] visitors
- Leading pre-booked and walk-in tastings for individuals and groups, tailoring the content to the needs of different visitors
- Supporting Tour Leaders on a range of visitor experiences, working towards leading visitor experiences within 3 months of start.
- Promotion and sales of our wines and memberships, acting as an ambassador for [Employer hidden]
- Helping to deliver the [Employer hidden] events programme
About you
You will have experience in the retail or hospitality sectors, guiding the public through the world of wines, and you may have hosted tours and tutored tastings before. You’ll be someone who keeps a keen eye on the rapidly developing English Wine scene in Kent and beyond.
Capable of handling groups single-handedly whilst maintaining the utmost professionalism, you will have the practical experience to hit the ground running for our busy spring/summer season.
Most importantly, this role is all about having a warm and welcoming attitude to customers, so we need someone who is immediately engaging, with exceptional people skills and a focus on excellent customer service. The successful candidate will be representing the [Employer hidden] brand and team and will be a key member of Nest staff.
Your skills and experience will include:
- Confidence in hosting tastings for customers at all knowledge levels
- Good wine knowledge, ideally WSET Level 2 or above, an enthusiasm for wine
- Ability to deliver exceptional customer service
- Retail sales experience in food and wine
- Able to work independently using own initiative
- Friendly, helpful, and confident with an engaging personality
