What you'll be doing
As Change Manager, you’ll support the successful transition to a new IET Communities delivery model across Local Networks, Technical Networks and other recognised Communities. Working closely with the Global Networks and Communities Manager, you’ll help ensure that volunteers and stakeholders understand what’s changing, why it matters, and how they can adopt new ways of working effectively.
This role is as much about people as it is about process. You’ll engage with Chairs, committees, regional structures and IET teams to coordinate change activity, maintain strong collaboration and build readiness across our volunteer community.
You’ll support capability building and volunteer engagement, ensuring individuals and groups feel confident throughout the transition. By monitoring progress, risks and feedback, you’ll help shape a responsive, structured approach that delivers sustainable outcomes.
You’ll also work closely with the Transformation and Communications Offices, ensuring all activity aligns with [Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk]’s Change Delivery Framework and contributes to a consistent, organisation-wide approach to change.
What we hope you can bring to the role
We’re looking for an experienced change professional with a strong track record of delivering organisational or cultural change within complex stakeholder environments. You’ll be confident operating where multiple perspectives, priorities and expectations need to be carefully balanced, and where thoughtful engagement is key to long-term success.
You’ll bring proven experience in change management, stakeholder engagement or organisational transformation, alongside excellent communication and facilitation skills. You’ll be able to explain change clearly and credibly, adapting your approach for different audiences and creating space for open, constructive dialogue. Building trust will come naturally to you, and you’ll be comfortable maintaining engagement and momentum during periods of uncertainty or transition.
Collaboration will be one of your strengths. You’ll have experience working effectively with both volunteers and employees, fostering positive relationships and a shared sense of purpose. An understanding of structured change management principles is important, and formal training or certification (such as Prosci, APMG or similar) would be advantageous.
You’ll also be confident using insight, feedback and data to assess impact, identify risks and inform decision-making. Strong organisational skills will enable you to manage multiple priorities while maintaining focus and forward momentum. Above all, you’ll bring a proactive, resilient and adaptable mindset, thriving in a dynamic environment where continuous improvement is part of the journey.
Experience of working within, or alongside, volunteer-led or membership organisations would be highly beneficial.
A little more about the role
- Support the Global Networks and Communities Manager to identify key stakeholders, assess readiness for change, and understand influence across the volunteer landscape.
- Develop and implement engagement and communication plans in partnership with Communications colleagues, ensuring volunteers have a meaningful voice in shaping and implementing the new model.
- Build volunteer readiness and capability, helping individuals and committees adapt to new processes and expectations.
- Maintain strong engagement with Local and Technical Network communities, the Community Resourcing Committee, and the Volunteer Engagement Board.
- Coordinate change and transition activity, tracking milestones, dependencies, and delivery timelines.
- Facilitate effective collaboration between staff and volunteers, fostering trust, clarity and shared understanding.
- Monitor risks, issues and feedback, escalating concerns appropriately and contributing to continuous improvement.
- Support staff and volunteer leaders to advocate for and embed change.
- Reinforce adoption post-implementation, ensuring changes are sustained beyond go-live.
