Unix AIX Support Engineer

My client has an urgent need for an experienced Unix AIX Engineer to take responsibility for supporting and building an AIX/ Unix/ Linux infrastructure across the enterprise. This will include AIX and Red Hat across the Unix estate and configuration, integration and support will all from part of the remit.

Unix AIX Support Engineer Role and Responsibilities:

• – Build and configure AIX/ Unix infrastructure for projects and BAU
• – Support data centre enabling technologies such as storage, backup, tooling and remote access
• – Provide AIX/ Unix technical leadership for projects and system management/ administration to level 3 incident resolution
• – System ownership of the AIX/ Unix tech stack including using proactive monitoring to maintain system health
• – Work collaboratively with 3rd parties for incident and project activities

Unix AIX Support Engineer Skills and Experience:

• – Significant experience in hands-on AIX/ Unix infrastructure engineering
• – Knowledge of IBM AIX Power 8 platform and guest build, configuration and administration
• – RHEL build, configuration and administration skills
• – Experience in AIX/ Unix resilient storage connectivity, virtualisation, clustering, backup/ recovery, LDAP services and/ or patch and license management
• – Configuration and administration of enterprise SAN solutions and storage arrays

This is a regulated environment wherein adherence to security and change control procedures will be key. You will act as a subject matter expert across the Unix/ Linux estate for fault diagnosis and deep dive configuration to ensure services are running securely, reliably and efficiently.
