General Foreman - Leeds
At [Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] we are looking for a qualified General Foreman to work on our Network Rail contracts within our established team based in Leeds. At [Employer hidden], you will be part of a successful and growing business based across the UK and over 30 years’ worth of expertise in the Civil Engineering sector.
Your Responsibilities:
As a General Foreman at [Employer hidden], you can expect to be working in a safe manner following appropriate procedures and supervising work items, promoting and supervising the safe working of all team members on site. You will be working on multiple frameworks for Network Rail undertaking railway maintenance work including but not limited to civils and earthworks.
- Organise, motivate and supervise all site operatives and subcontractors
- Ensure effective deployment of personnel, plant, subcontractors and equipment to achieve the allocated site activities within the allowed programme period
- Promote and implement safety arrangements (including close call reporting) and methods of working to ensure compliance with [Employer hidden] Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental policies
- Make suggestions to promote a safe site
- Carry out inductions, site briefings of method statements and activities, daily inspections and record any changes to methods of work or site conditions
- Have full understanding of work objectives, programmes and project details to ensure the contract is carried out correctly to timescales
- Mark up programmes and drawings with progress on a weekly basis
- Keep daily site records and returns and identity, photograph and record additional works found to the Project Manager/ Site Manager and ensure return to head office
- Liaise with Clients/visitors to site in a professional manner
- Identify training needs and competencies of site operatives
- Liaise with the Site Manager / Projects Manager / Site Engineer in the event that the allocated site activities cannot be achieved as envisaged or have changed from the conditions assumed
- Any other duties as may reasonably be required
Person Specification:
The perfect candidate will have:
- A background in Civil Engineering/ Earthworks projects – Essential (Rail highly desirable)
- Experience in supervising, motivating and supporting the training of groups of team members on site – Essential
- A strong knowledge and demonstrable behaviours in Safety Awareness
- SSSTS – Essential
- PTS - Essential
- First Aid - Highly desirable
- A good ability to plan and manage time
- A positive and professional attitude, with the confidence and talent to deliver excellence to our clients
- The ability and willingness to regularly work away from home, as well as on nights and weekends
