We are currently looking for a Cost Engineer, to join a leading vehicle manufacturer based in the UK. This role will play a key part in ensuring accurate product costing, validating supplier quotations, and driving continuous cost optimisation across new and existing vehicle programmes.
The Cost Engineer will:
- Prepare should‑cost calculations and cost estimates to validate supplier quotations for technology parts and build‑to‑print components.
- Support cost negotiations in collaboration with the Purchasing team.
- Provide target cost estimates and evaluations throughout new product development.
- Analyse material costs, tooling investments, and assembly costs.
- Set up and maintaining foreign exchange and raw‑material commodity indexation matrices.
- Support make‑versus‑buy assessments, sourcing strategies, and supplier negotiations.
The Cost Engineer will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Automotive, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- 7+ years’ experience in cost engineering, product costing, or should‑costing.
- Experience within automotive, motorsport, aerospace, or premium/complex manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of machining, casting, forging, composites, and related manufacturing processes.
- The ability to read engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications.
- Strong analytical capability and excellent attention to detail.
