[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is looking for a part-time Head of Finance to professionalise financial management, improve margins, and provide clearer commercial insight. The role involves managing financial accounts, forecasting, pricing, and margin improvement, with a focus on strategic decision-making and profitability.

The role

[Employer hidden] is an established digital agency with long-standing clients, strong technical capability, and an ambitious growth plan across performance marketing and creative services.

We are looking for a part-time Head of Finance to professionalise our financial management, improve margins, and give the business clearer commercial insight. This is not a bookkeeping role - it is a leadership position designed to turn finance into a strategic driver of better decisions and stronger profitability.

Working closely with the Managing Director, you will take ownership of forecasting, reporting, pricing discipline and margin improvement, while helping to free up senior leadership time to focus on clients and growth.

What success looks like

In your first six months, you will be expected to deliver:

  • Clear, reliable management accounts each month
  • A rolling 6-month cashflow forecast
  • True profitability visibility for every major client
  • A practical pricing and margin framework
  • Evidence-based retainer reviews and increases
  • Improved gross margins across the business
  • Better credit control and cash discipline

Your impact will be judged on commercial outcomes, not just reports.

Key responsibilities

  • Produce accurate monthly management accounts and board reports
  • Build and maintain rolling forecasts and budgets
  • Analyse client and project profitability
  • Introduce pricing models and margin controls
  • Support commercial decision-making with clear financial insight
  • Oversee credit control processes
  • Work with the existing bookkeeper and external accountants
  • Improve systems and processes over time
  • Provide pragmatic, commercially focused financial guidance

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has agency experience (marketing, digital, design, PR, or communications)
  • Has held a senior finance role such as Financial Controller or Head of Finance
  • Understands retainers, utilisation and project-based profitability
  • Is hands-on and operational, but commercially strategic
  • Can challenge constructively and communicate clearly
  • Balances analytical rigour with real-world pragmatism
  • Enjoys improving processes and making a visible difference

Working pattern

  • 3 days per week
  • Office-based in Taunton with flexibility for hybrid working
  • Permanent part-time employment
