About Us
We're a rapidly growing maritime-focussed Insurtech startup passionate about technology and innovation. We recently raised a $4.8M seed round from leading venture investors in maritime, supply chain and insurance. We’ve gained strong early traction including partnerships with major ship owners and are building serious momentum. The team is split between Newcastle and London. We believe technology can and does make the world a better place, and we believe we can make that happen. We value challenging each other, truth seeking and creative problem solving. We celebrate the wins and always have fun!
We’re looking for an exceptional UI/UX designer to help shape how [Employer hidden] looks, feels, and works across every touchpoint. You’ll play a pivotal role in translating complex ideas into simple, intuitive, and beautiful experiences for our customers—building a product and brand presence that stands out in the industry.
- In the last year, we’ve raised a $4.8M seed round from some of the leading venture investors in the maritime space. We’ve already secured traction with major ship-owning companies, and we’re just getting started.
- Our team has grown to 12, bringing together deep expertise across engineering, data, and maritime.
- You’ll work closely with our founding team to shape and execute our product design vision from the ground up — building the foundations of our user experience, design system, and helping power the product as we scale.
What we're doing
We're reshaping maritime. It's an industry that's incredibly important and serves as the backbone of global trade, moving $14 trillion of cargo each year. Despite its significance, the industry remains one of the final frontiers of digitalisation.
[Employer hidden] is capturing and analysing high frequency data from commercial ships to enrich insurance risk selection, reduce machinery breakdowns and improve fuel efficiency. The insights that we derive are served to our customers in a beautiful dashboard, saving thousands of tonnes of CO2 emissions, preventing costly breakdowns and reducing operational risks. We use these insights to provide a world first, market-beating connected insurance product which is supported by a panel of seven A-rated insurance carriers and some incredible investors. We're looking for someone to lead our AI initiatives and take our predictive capabilities to the next level.
The role
You’ll work closely with our CEO, CTO and the wider engineering team and will be responsible for:
- Designing intuitive, user-friendly interfaces and experiences across web and mobile.
- Owning the end-to-end design process: research, wireframing, prototyping, user testing, and final UI.
- Collaborating closely with product, engineering, and marketing to bring ideas to life.
- Developing and maintaining [Employer hidden]’s design system, ensuring consistency and scalability.
- Conducting user research and usability testing to inform design decisions.
- Turning customer insights into elegant product features and workflows.
- Contributing to [Employer hidden]’s visual identity, ensuring our brand is cohesive across all customer-facing touchpoints.
- Design and create impactful and engaging marketing and sales collateral to help drive customer engagement and lead generation
You will be perfect for this role if:
You don’t need maritime experience — we’ll teach you that — but you should be a thoughtful designer, proactive, and excited to work across a wide range of design challenges. We’re especially keen on curious, fast learners who want to make a real impact.
- 2–4 years of experience in UI/UX or product design, ideally in SaaS or digital product environments.
- A strong portfolio showcasing user-centred design, interaction design, and polished UI.
- Proficiency with modern design tools, especially Figma (our design home).
- Experience conducting user research and turning insights into actionable design solutions.
- A balance of systems-thinking and creative flair—you care about both the details and the bigger picture.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup, with the ability to prioritise, adapt, and iterate quickly.
