FULL DESCRIPTION

At Hill, great projects begin with great planning. As our Estimator, you’ll play a vital role in helping us secure future work by producing competitive tenders, cost plans and budget estimates that reflect our commitment to quality, value and detail.

What you’ll do:

  • Prepare tenders, cost plans and estimates for residential developments of varying size and complexity
  • Use Causeway to build accurate and well-structured bids
  • Review drawings, specifications and technical documents to inform pricing strategies
  • Lead subcontractor pricing—issuing enquiries, chasing responses and resolving discrepancies
  • Chair pricing meetings and contribute to bid strategies and settlement reviews
  • Collaborate with internal teams to input fees, preliminaries and statutory costs
  • Visit sites and document findings to support programme and pricing development
  • Prepare handover packs and support the transition from pre-construction to delivery
  • Record all enquiries and submissions using Hill’s templates and control documents
  • Identify and communicate risks, opportunities, and cost options to the wider team

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in estimating for residential or mixed-use developments
  • Proficient in Causeway or similar estimating software
  • Strong understanding of construction methods and tendering processes
  • Ability to produce Bills of Quantities from first principles
  • Commercially aware with strong analytical and presentation skills
  • Confident reviewing drawings, identifying inconsistencies and proposing alternatives
  • Knowledge of building regulations, H&S requirements, and ISO9001
  • Experience working across Pre-Construction, Technical, and Delivery teams
  • Proactive and collaborative with a high attention to detail
