Senior Learning & Development Manager
Thames Valley (hybrid working, flexibility for remote working)
Salary- Up to £85,000 per annum.

Role Overview
This is a senior-level Learning & Development leadership role within an internal L&D function that is undergoing significant transformation. The successful candidate will play a critical role in resetting the L&D agenda, building scalable frameworks, and delivering meaningful impact across the organisation.
The role requires a hands-on leader who can operate confidently in a fast-paced, complex environment, influence senior stakeholders, and build robust learning and career development frameworks from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, own, and deliver a comprehensive Learning & Development strategy aligned to business priorities.
  • Design and implement clear career frameworks and progression pathways (A → B development).
  • Build structured development plans to support the Talent function in achieving role-fill and succession targets.
  • Establish scalable, accessible learning solutions across the organisation.
  • Design, build, and deliver high-quality learning programmes and workshops.
  • Drive a more proactive L&D offering, including leading AI-related learning initiatives.
  • Ensure learning content is practical, impactful, and aligned to future skills needs.
  • Lead, manage, and develop a small team of L&D professionals.
  • Set clear direction, priorities, and standards for delivery within the L&D team.
  • Foster a high-performance, collaborative team culture.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders across the business to understand needs and influence outcomes.
  • Operate effectively across global time zones, managing complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on learning, development, and capability-building.
  • Lead within a high-pressure, fast-moving, and ambiguous environment.
  • Build L&D solutions suitable for a large, complex, private equity–backed organisation.
  • Drive momentum and impact in a function that has had limited influence in the past year.

Key Attributes:

  • Proven experience in a senior L&D leadership role.
  • Strong track record of building L&D strategies, career frameworks, and development programmes from scratch.
  • Demonstrable people leadership experience, including managing and developing teams.
  • Confident and credible senior stakeholder manager within a large corporate environment.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, complex, and changing organisations.

Personal Attributes

  • Thrives under pressure and is comfortable with pace, change, and ambiguity.
  • Highly proactive, resilient, and outcome-focused.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on delivery mindset.
  • Comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels.
