Workday Functional FDM Lead

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Workday Functional FDM Lead to play a critical role in the design, governance, and delivery of Financial Data Model (FDM) solutions within a Workday environment. This is a key position responsible for ensuring that financial structures are scalable, compliant, and aligned with business and reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and optimisation of the Workday Financial Data Model (FDM)
• Act as the functional SME for Workday Financials, particularly around FDM structures (e.g. ledger accounts, cost centres, custom worktags)
• Collaborate with finance, HR, and technical teams to translate business requirements into scalable FDM solutions
• Ensure data integrity, governance, and alignment with reporting and regulatory needs
• Support Workday deployments, enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Provide leadership and guidance to functional consultants and stakeholders
• Drive best practices and standardisation across Workday Financials

Key Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Workday Functional Lead or SME with strong focus on FDM
• Deep understanding of Workday Financials and data structures
• Experience designing and implementing worktags, hierarchies, and reporting frameworks
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Experience working on end-to-end Workday implementations or major transformation programmes
• Ability to bridge the gap between finance and technical teams

Desirable Experience

• Workday Financials certification
• Experience in global or complex organisational structures
• Background in finance, accounting, or ERP transformation
