Business Development Manager – Automotive Aftermarket
SKILLS
FULL DESCRIPTION
We’re recruiting a Business Development Manager to represent one of the best-known OE brands operating within the UK automotive aftermarket. If you know the factor network, thrive in a commercial sales environment, and want to work for a business that values quality, innovation, and long-term partnerships, this is a role to consider.
The Role
Covering the Midlands region, you'll act as the commercial link between the manufacturer and the factor network within your region.
You’ll be responsible for managing and growing relationships with motor factors and key trade accounts. This is a field-based position with plenty of variety, from negotiating with business owners, purchasing directors, to joint customer visits with factor representatives to presenting new promotions and attending regional trade events. No one day is the same.
It’s a hands-on sales role that combines relationship management with commercial thinking and market insight.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing and developing relationships with factor branches and their sales teams
- Supporting factor representatives in the field through joint visits, product promotion, and end-user engagement
- Attending trade events, supporting product launches, and driving regional brand presence
- Building rapport with key decision-makers to influence product ranging and promotional activity
- Preparing for meetings with data and insight to add real value to conversations
- Suggesting and supporting relevant marketing and promotional campaigns across the territory
What’s in it for you?
- Salary: £40,000 – £44,000 depending on experience
- Bonus: Performance-related bonus scheme
- Company Car: Fully expensed vehicle
- Lunch allowance
- Work-Life Balance: Autonomy to manage your own diary and region
- The freedom to sell. The company will do the admin and provide you with the sales reports.
- Support: Backing from a trusted global brand with a strong UK team
- Career Growth: Progression opportunities within a respected group that invests in its people
What we’re looking for:
- A proven BDM or Area Sales Manager in the automotive aftermarket, with experience working with motor factors, UK buying groups or distributor networks.
- Good knowledge of motor factors, distribution channels, and trade sales
- A consultative, value-led sales style – this is about long-term partnerships, not quick wins
- A confident communicator who thrives in a field-based, customer-facing environment
- Someone who understands how to build trust and credibility at all levels of the customer journey
If you’re ready for a fresh challenge with a respected brand and you want to play a key role in shaping regional success, we’d love to hear from you.
