We are looking for a Principal Transport Planner to join a growing consultancy and provide ongoing technical support to a range of clients in the UK with ongoing work available and excellent development opportunities for the right individual.

About the role:

We are looking for a Principal Transport Planner to join a growing consultancy and provide ongoing technical support to a range of clients in the UK with ongoing work available and excellent development opportunities for the right individual.

As a Principal Transport Planner you will be working on a range of projects in line with current UK standards, and should be able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of current highway standards, applicable legislation, the Planning Regulatory framework, and transport policy as applied to development.

Within the role as a Principal Transport Planner it will be essential for the chosen individual to complete accurate reports, and your input and contribution to the team are viewed as essential in the continued development of the business.

As part of your responsibilities as a Principal Transport Planner, your guidance to more junior staff will be invaluable in supporting the business as the engineering department as a whole strives to provide continued excellent service to the company’s clients.

You will be commercially leading selected projects, and will be responsible for employing appropriate control measures to ensure fees are managed and invoiced accurately, whilst maximising the commercial position of the business and protecting against overspend.

About you:

Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience working for UK-based consultancies, and a background working on similar projects is desired in order to ensure a close match to the existing and upcoming workload.

In addition to having a confident, commercial and professional outlook, you should have:

  • Minimum of 5 years UK based experience
  • Experience working with highway standards, particularly the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual for Streets
  • Strength in working to appropriate legislation, including the Planning Regulatory framework, transport policies and CDM/Health and Safety
  • Strong analytical, communication and technical skills
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English
