My client is looking for a Chartered / Near-Chartered Structural Engineer to join their Wigan office and is looking for someone who can come in and make their mark. My client is looking for a Chartered / Near-Chartered Structural Engineer to join their Wigan office and is looking for someone who can come in and make their mark. As part of a growing and ambitious team, you can take on expanding responsibilities and play a pivotal role in growing the Wigan presence. The ability and desire to lead multi-disciplinary projects is a key part of the role, in which we would fully support this adaptable person in their development across a range of disciplines, sectors and clients.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Recent consultancy experience in the North West preferred
  • Chartered or close to chartered with ICE or IStructE.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Taking technical ownership and responsibility for the production of drawings, calculations, reports and design documents produced by self, or coordinating and reviewing work produced by others;
  • Independently using appropriate design/analysis software including CAD and the ability to support the learning of others;
  • Analyse technical problems, assess the feasibility of proposed techniques and procedures and devise new approaches and alternative solutions;
  • Solving engineering problems;
  • Familiarity with design guides and standards;
  • Knowledge of the designer's responsibilities under CDM (2015);
  • Following and contributing to Engineering procedures for completing work to the highest standard and adding value to the schemes we deliver and to the client teams;
  • Identify and manage risks within your area of responsibility;
  • Supporting other team members in their technical development;
  • Attending site visits to review project constraints and the construction process proactively;
  • Leading and managing the delivery of appropriate projects, liaising with clients and third parties;
  • Capable of presenting and discussing technical solutions with technical and non-technical parties;
  • Internal project management including resource planning and financial control;
  • Identifying and responding to project commercial risks and opportunities;
  • Developing fee proposals and project cost estimates;
  • Maintaining and developing relationships with existing and prospective clients;
  • Investing in personal development;
  • Upholding and assisting with the development and implementation of company policies and procedures;
  • Helping to promote the business, explore business development opportunities and support the growth of the team;
