Data Engineering Manager | London – Hybrid (2 days in office) | Competitive Salary + Benefits

About the Role

We’re looking for a Data Engineering Manager to lead our Data Engineering team at [Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk], part of the Experience More group.

This role sits at the heart of how we use data to understand our business and serve our customers better. You’ll lead a team of data engineers responsible for building and maintaining a robust, scalable, and secure data platform that ensures the right data is available to the right people, at the right time.

You’ll combine people leadership with hands-on technical oversight, shaping our data strategy, data models, and data architecture, while improving data quality and governance. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you’ll design and deliver well-structured, trusted data that underpins reporting, analytics, and confident, data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of data engineers working on our core data platform.
  • Set technical direction and strategy across data infrastructure, data architecture, and data modelling, ensuring we build the right solutions in the right way.
  • Own and evolve our data models and data architecture, ensuring they are scalable, well-governed, and aligned with business needs.
  • Build and maintain scalable, resilient data pipelines and systems, including an in-house event ingestion platform.
  • Define best practices for analytics engineering, data modelling, and schema design to support reliable reporting and downstream use cases.
  • Take ownership of data code, underlying infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and production monitoring.
  • Collaborate closely with data insights and analytics teams to develop and refine ML-driven analytics pipelines.
  • Work with stakeholders across the business to understand data requirements and translate them into reliable, accessible data solutions.
  • Ensure data quality, governance, security, and GDPR compliance across the data platform.
  • Support and grow engineers through mentoring, clear objectives, and our engineering growth framework.

About You:

  • You have experience mentoring and developing engineers, and working closely with non-technical stakeholders.
  • You’re either an experienced manager or ready to take the next step into a people leadership role.
  • You enjoy taking ownership end-to-end, from data models and architecture through to pipelines, infrastructure, and production support.
  • You’re passionate about data and apply best practices to analytics engineering, data modelling, and platform design.
  • You have experience building and maintaining modern data platforms, ideally using Snowflake.
  • You’ve worked with modern ETL tooling and understand how to build reliable, automated data flows.
  • You’re curious about the business context behind the data and enjoy collaborating to solve real problems.

Our Tech Environment

  • C# .NET and Python
  • Azure and Terraform
  • Orchestration tooling (such as Airflow)
  • Snowflake
  • DBT
  • Fivetran

How We Get There:

  • We focus on building simple, scalable solutions with clear data models and thoughtful architecture.
  • We collaborate openly across engineering, data, and product teams.
  • We encourage ownership, continuous learning, and thoughtful experimentation.
  • We balance technical excellence with real business impact.
