The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Operations Assistant (Maternity Cover) to join our fast-paced small animal behavioural medicine referral practice, with the role commencing in May. You will work under the direction of the Head of Operations and Office Supervisor, alongside a supportive and experienced team of administrators, veterinary surgeons, rehabilitation coaches, and a veterinary physiotherapist. This is a varied role suited to someone who is highly organised, adaptable, and confident managing multiple tasks. Full training will be provided across all administrative processes. The role offers a wide range of responsibilities and the opportunity to develop a broad skill set within a specialist referral veterinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as the first point of contact for new client enquiries
  • Processing referrals accurately and efficiently
  • Answering telephone calls and responding to client emails
  • Managing veterinary diaries and booking appointments
  • Providing administrative support across the practice as required

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an administrative role
  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience working in a veterinary practice
  • Excellent IT, numeracy, and organisational skills
  • Clear communication skills with a professional and methodical approach
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced team
  • Confidence handling client enquiries by phone and email
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a busy environment

Desirable

  • Administrative qualifications or relevant CPD/training
  • Previous experience within a veterinary referral practice
