EYFS Teaching Assistant – Newcastle

We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive Early Years setting in Newcastle. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated practitioner who is passionate about supporting young children in the early stages of their education and helping them develop confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.

As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider Early Years team to support children as young as three years old, helping to create a nurturing, engaging, and stimulating learning environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of engaging activities and lessons as an EYFS Teaching Assistant, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Work closely with children as young as three years old, supporting their learning, development, and wellbeing.
  • Assist with play-based learning activities that support early communication, language, and numeracy skills.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages exploration and creativity.
  • Support children’s social and emotional development, helping them build confidence and independence.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and other staff to support learning and daily routines as an EYFS Teaching Assistant.
  • Observe and support children’s progress, providing feedback to the teacher where appropriate.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures and health and safety requirements are always followed.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • A relevant Early Years qualification.
  • Experience working with young children, ideally within an EYFS or nursery setting.
  • A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach when supporting young learners.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to support play-based learning and early childhood development.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
