About the role

The Commercial Director will be a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for defining, leading, and executing the company’s commercial strategy. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role will shape the group’s approach to sales, marketing, aftermarket, hire operations, and communications, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic objectives and growth ambitions. While direct reports will oversee operational delivery within their respective areas, this role will focus on strategic planning, commercial governance, performance management, and cross-functional alignment to ensure that all commercial activity drives sustainable and profitable growth.

Key responsibilities

We are seeking a Commercial Director with the following experience and attributes:

ESSENTIAL
• Proven senior commercial leadership experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial services environment.
• Demonstrated success in developing and executing commercial growth strategies.
• Experience overseeing multi-disciplinary commercial teams (sales, marketing, service, hire, or similar).
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, with experience in pricing strategy, contract negotiation, and business planning.
• Excellent leadership and influencing skills, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.

DESIRABLE
• Experience within the industrial, energy, or process engineering sectors.
• International business development or export experience.
• Degree (or equivalent) in Business, Engineering, or a related discipline; MBA advantageous.
