Day Fitter

What you’ll be doing

  • Carrying out routine preventative maintenance, inspections, and servicing on buses
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults
  • Working on key vehicle systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension
  • Completing repairs and component replacements using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment
  • Preparing vehicles for MOT and regulatory inspections, including pre-MOT checks
  • Accurately recording all maintenance and repair work
  • Following health & safety regulations and company policies at all times
  • Working closely with colleagues and reporting issues to supervisors
  • Taking part in ongoing training to keep up to date with new vehicle technologies

What we’re looking for

  • A recognised apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, Automotive Engineering, or similar
  • Proven experience as a Fitter / Technician on heavy goods vehicles (bus or coach experience desirable)
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Confidence using workshop tools and diagnostic equipment
  • A full UK driving licence (PCV preferred, or willingness to obtain)
  • A team player with the ability to work independently when required
  • High attention to detail and pride in delivering quality work
  • Flexibility to support occasional overtime or weekend work if required
