FULL DESCRIPTION

Sterile Services Technician in Truro

We are currently looking for a Sterile Services Technician to join our busy Sterile Services Department. The Department provides an important service within the Hospital, decontaminating and sterilising surgical instruments for the Operating Theatres/Wards, Departments and external customers. The Department is fully accredited to British, International and European Standards and works within a Quality System.

1 x vacancy, working a 3‑week rotational shift pattern (0730‑1530, 1000‑1800, 1400‑2200) including a 30‑minute meal break. This will include participation in working bank holidays and the SSD on‑call rota. Applicants will also receive training to cover the full range of the de‑contamination cycle for surgical instruments and theatre sets, which will contribute towards the achievement of the IDSC Certificate in Decontamination for re‑usable medical devices.

Main Duties

  • Decontaminate and sterilise surgical instruments and theatre sets.
  • Operate and maintain decontamination equipment and chemical processes.
  • Work within a team, taking and following precise written and verbal instructions.
  • Record and log decontamination cycles accurately.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and external customers.
  • Adhere to national and international quality and safety standards.
