Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and effective food technology lessons in line with the school curriculum.
- Teach students about food and nutrition, food science, culinary arts, and the basics of cooking and baking.
- Teach students how to plan, prepare, and cook a variety of dishes and meals.
- Monitor and track the progress of students through regular assessment and feedback.
- Develop and maintain a positive learning environment in the classroom and kitchen.
- Ensure that all health and safety regulations and procedures are followed in the kitchen and classroom.
- Use a range of teaching strategies and resources to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Provide extra support to students who are struggling and challenge those who are excelling.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
- Attend staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development opportunities.
- Participate in the development and implementation of school policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, Culinary Arts, Nutrition, or a related field.
- Relevant teaching qualification and certification.
- Strong knowledge of food technology curriculum and teaching methodologies.
- Experience in teaching and working in a commercial kitchen setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents.
- A patient and supportive approach to teaching.
- Familiarity with educational technology and its integration into the classroom.
