We are looking for someone to support [Employer hidden]’s management of information requests received under Scotland’s freedom of information laws. The post holder will work within the Information Governance Unit, which is a merry band of specialists who provide advice and guidance to all services within [Employer hidden] on information governance matters. You will occupy a crucial role which helps to ensure [Employer hidden] remains compliant with its obligations under information governance legislation, including access to information laws.
The post holder will be a primary point of contact for all freedom of information requests. Supported by your manager, you will be responsible for assessing and allocating requests, collating information received from departments, and drafting responses. You will be able to advise and assist applicants making requests, and provide guidance to services regarding the application of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2002, and how these interact with other laws such as Data Protection legislation. As part of the Information Governance Unit, we expect the successful candidate to develop their skills in all areas of information governance, delivering training, and helping to improve processes and documentation to support organisational wide information governance maturity.
We are looking for someone with experience of interpreting and applying information governance legislation, who can demonstrate critical analysis skills, sound judgement and excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will need to be able to present and explain complicated information in an accessible way. A flexible approach to work, the ability to effectively manage a workload with competing demands, and access to transport is essential as this post will involve cross site working.
Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post.
The duties of this post require the successful candidate to complete a Level 2 Disclosure Scotland check.
The Information Governance Unit is based within offices at [Employer hidden]’s Headquarters at Carseview House, Castle Business Park, Stirling, FK9 4SW. As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
