Java Developer

My market leading client are looking to secure the services of a contract Java Developer to assist with critical project work over the coming months. Bringing strong knowledge of TDD and Ideally coming from a consultancy background, candidates will need to be available to start within the next 4 weeks (notice periods are fine).

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop new features to existing web application
• Redesign/refactor Legacy code using standard coding practices and rules
• Front End changes based on business demand
• Practice TDD and improve test coverage of existing and new code
• Use latest technologies to improve/replace the current designs and implementations
• Function independently or/and in a team environment and deliver results
• Configure and maintain development, test and live server environments

Key Skills:

• Java 8
• Java EE
• Unit testing using Junit
• Measure code quality and implement recommendations
• Extensive Java knowledge, including of frameworks (ideally Spring) if possible,
• Knowledge and experience of Agile development techniques
• Understanding of Application Server containers such as Wildfly
• CQRS patterns
• Event sourcing
• Eventually consistent systems
• Jenkins
• Control (SVN, GIT (preferred), JIRA, Bitbucket, Sonar.
• Servers- Apache, Tomcat
• Good OpSys skills Linux (OpenSuse, Ubuntu)
• Nice to haves - Perl skills, Chef/Puppet/Salt experience, Android skills, Docker skills,
• PHP/Wordpress
