FULL DESCRIPTION

Key Responsibilities

- Provide expert advice and representation to clients in Court of Protection cases, including applications for deputyship, statutory wills, property and finance decisions and related trust matters. - Prepare and review legal documents, including court applications and financial reports. - Run deputyship cases. - Manage cost applications. - Deal with matters relating to nursing or residential home funding. - Deal with deprivation of liberty and safeguarding matters. - Ensure compliance with file management procedures. - Stay updated on changes in legislation and case law relating to the Court of Protection, ensuring compliance and the provision of accurate advice. - Have a professional pro-active approach, strong client care skills and be interested in Business Development and Marketing to supplement the substantial work volumes brought in by the firm. - Take on additional tasks as reasonably required by the Head of Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

You will: - Be a qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with a minimum of 3 years' experience running your own Court of Protection caseload. - Strong knowledge and understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and associated legislation. - Proven experience in managing a caseload of Court of Protection matters. - Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills. - Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts to clients and stakeholders. - Strong advocacy skills and experience representing clients in court. - High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct. - Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
