Job Overview:

We are currently seeking experienced and dedicated Class 2 HGV Drivers to join our growing logistics team. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery and collection of plant machinery/materials to and from construction sites nationwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely load, secure, transport and offload plant machinery and equipment
  • Conduct vehicle and load safety checks prior to departure
  • Deliver and collect plant across various client sites in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate paperwork and delivery records
  • Comply with all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies
  • Represent M O’Brien Plant Hire professionally at all times with clients and site staff
  • Liaise with the transport office regarding schedules and instructions
  • Report any vehicle defects, incidents or delays promptly

Requirements:

  • Valid UK Class 2 driving licence
  • Valid CPC (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence)
  • Valid Tachograph (Digital Driver Card)
  • Experience transporting plant, construction equipment, or similar loads (Required)
  • Knowledge of load securing and operation of Beavertail/trailers
  • Strong understanding of health & safety and transport compliance
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative
  • Flexibility with start times and occasional overnight stays if required

Desirable:

  • NPORS, or CPCS qualification for loading/unloading plant (advantageous)
  • Experience working in construction logistics or with a plant hire company
  • Knowledge of route planning and satellite navigation systems
