Special Education Teacher

This is a unique opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team supporting children with various language needs between of ages 2 to 11 years old.

You must have experience of working with children in the autism spectrum disorder and have the desire and passion to learn and develop new skills, to join our friendly and supportive team.

#### As a SEN Teacher, you will work 37.5 hours a week to:

  • Assist in teaching related activities, including working directly with children
  • Clinical administration
  • Take part in the assessment processes
  • Conduct and develop audits and/or research projects
  • Creation of teaching resources
  • Participating in training
  • Responsible for the performance of LSAs
  • You are required to work on the weekend

You will engage and work with the multidisciplinary team and the SENDCo to ensure that children are fully engaged in their care pathway, with significant focus on providing communication support to children with ASD and children with a Learning Disability.

You will be in charge of LSAs and support them to develop and implement individualised communication interventions and communication supports based on children’s needs and strengths, encouraging co-production of service, children’s independence, and development of life skills with a focus on improving quality of life.

#### Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and overseeing the planning and curriculum for small group work and interventions
  • Implement individualised programmes (IEPs)
  • Working closely with families of children in your care
  • Implementing speech and language targets and reporting outcomes to SALT and SENDCo
  • Creating and maintaining resources for the clinic
  • Supporting and participating with staff training and development
  • Providing high-quality written termly reports
  • Attending regular service development meetings
  • Contributing to audit and research projects

#### To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • QTS registration
  • Experience of teaching in a similar environment
  • Experience of working with families
  • Evidence of continuing Professional Development
  • Knowledge of various communication approaches
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Autism
  • Excellent literacy and technology skills to be able to create reports and utilise specialised communication aid software
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrating specialist skills in dealing with complex cases, cultural and linguistic differences, and to generate appropriate strategies for caseload management.
  • Undertaking audits and contributing to research in the provision of treatments.
  • Organising and delivering training to staff and families
  • Supervising LSAs
