The role involves overseeing production processes, maintaining plant quality, managing pest and disease control, and collaborating across departments. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in a similar nursery or horticultural production role, strong leadership skills, and a passion for excellence.

Established in 1995, we operate over 100 acres of nursery production in the heart of Bedfordshire. We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to take on the role of Head of Container Nursery, driving forward the standards, efficiency, and future design of our container operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage the team responsible for all container production operations.
  • Oversee and streamline production processes to drive efficiencies in both materials and labour.
  • Embrace modern technologies to introduce new methods and continuous improvements.
  • Maintain the highest standards of plant quality, health, and presentation.
  • Play a vital role in the strategic redesign and expansion of the nursery, helping to shape the vision of becoming the UK’s best and most advanced container nursery over the next decade.
  • Manage pest and disease control, implementing environmentally friendly and sustainable approaches.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure efficient planning, scheduling, and stock readiness in line with project and client requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

We are looking for a highly qualified candidate with a proven track record and significant experience in a similar nursery or horticultural production role. You’ll demonstrate strong leadership, attention to detail, and an innovative mindset with a passion for excellence in production, sustainability, and process improvement.

Valid driving licence required due to location.

WORKING DETAILS

Full time position

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm

24 days annual holiday plus bank holidays

Workplace pension and private health cover (after six months of service)

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience
