Job Title: Facade Access & Maintenance Engineer

Reports to: Group Director

Job Purpose: We require a Facade Access & Maintenance Engineer in our London office with experience working on challenging projects in the UK and internationally

DESCRIPTION

We are looking for people with the following:

  • — A degree in or equivalent professional experience in engineering, architecture, materials science or a related subject
  • — 3+ years’ experience in FAM engineering or other relevant field
  • — Proven experience on complex, technically demanding projects of the highest architectural quality
  • — Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach
  • — Excellent working knowledge of Access and Maintenance equipment and systems
  • — Excellent working knowledge in the application of BS/EN and relevant international standards
  • — Excellent knowledge of H&S regulations and their application to Access and Maintenance.
  • — Ability to develop and maintain client relationships
  • — Ability to support and guide others in a collaborative team environment
  • — Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of design reports, presentations, technical notes, factory and site visit reports
  • — Excellent visual communication skills covering sketches, drawings, preferably 3D modelling
  • — Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution
  • — Ability to meet project timelines and deadlines
  • — Experience and proven ability in the technical, process or financial aspects of project management

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • — Working with clients, architects and facility managers to develop FAM strategies and detailed solutions for complex architectural projects
  • — Preparing detailed technical reports, specifications, drawings and, where appropriate, 3D models to communicate strategies to clients and architects
  • — Reviewing technical designs produced by subcontractors
  • — Witnessing FAM equipment fabrication and installation
  • — Managing multiple projects, monitoring project performance against timelines, resourcing, fees and change control
  • — Managing team resources in conjunction with other associates and overseas offices
  • — Overseeing junior engineers in the production of deliverables
  • — Delivering training and knowledge sharing to junior staff; participating in production of internal technical guidance notes
  • — Supporting delivery of business plan via attendance at BD activities, representing EOC in project settings and selected industry events

  • — Line-managing junior team members, conducting appraisals and overseeing training and development
  • — Assisting in preparation of fee proposals and commercial and contractual negotiation with clients
  • — Developing relationships with clients, architects and collaborators

PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES

  • — Working knowledge of digital design / modelling software; proven experience developing effective approaches to producing deliverables and communicating concepts
  • — Ability to adapt management approach to suit the particular project, client and team
  • — A keen interest in architecture and availability for some project-related travel
