DESCRIPTION

We are looking for people with the following:

  • — A relevant qualification in CAD/BIM draughting related to building engineering or architecture
  • — 2+ years’ experience in facade detailing in a consulting or construction firm
  • — A working knowledge of the principles of curtain walling, structural glazing, rain screen systems, built-up walls
  • — Excellent knowledge of 2D AutoCAD, and preferably also 3D AutoCAD, Revit and Rhino
  • — Excellent IT skills and willingness to develop further knowledge of new CAD software
  • — Experience with document control software
  • — A collaborative approach
  • — Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • — Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • — The role will report to the facade director in London and may from time to time involve supporting our offices in Paris, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Sydney.

A high standard in written communication is expected. The role will involve developing and sharing best practice in facade detailing and maintaining a library of ‘best practice’ details.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • — Working with our facade engineers to develop facade details from schematic design stage through to contract stage
  • — Producing technical drawings in a clear and consistent visual ‘house’ style
  • — Maintaining a library of facade details, including a system of dynamic blocks for components
  • — Assisting the facade leadership team in developing a strategy for facade CAD production based on BIM and parametric tools
  • — Occasionally supporting the engineering team in carrying out site inspections
  • — Collaborating with other EOC engineers and technicians to share best practice, coordinate with practice-wide CAD standards and protocols
  • — Coordinating and combining 3rd party drawing information.
  • — Managing issue of drawings to relevant parties on a timely basis.
  • — Work to the CAD drawing weekly schedule.
  • — Being responsible for meeting agreed deadlines and managing time to meet programme
  • — Working on defined tasks under limited supervision with some autonomy
  • — Attendance at site meetings and technical meetings for each project when necessary
  • — Maintaining an awareness of industry systems
  • — Engage and contribute to EOCs knowledge sharing infrastructure
  • — All other duties that may be reasonably required

PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES

  • — Experience of UK and international codes and standards relevant to facade detailing
  • — Experience in projects from concept stage through completion
  • — Desire to develop professionally, take on responsibility and contribute to the growth of the practice
  • — A keen interest in architecture and a willingness to travel
