Role Description

Salary:
​Band B, Spine Point Range: £43,222 to £54,028 (commensurate with experience) + workplace pension scheme

Primary Location:
Petersfield, Hampshire, UK ​

Status:
​Permanent, Full time (salaried 40 hours per week)

Annual Leave:
33 days per year including public holidays​

ecoSUB Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) are robotic platforms at the leading edge of subsea technology development.  They are affordable, intelligently designed and extremely disruptive to the market, markedly increasing accessibility to a wide range of users in research, offshore energy, and defence markets.  [Employer hidden] division is in the process of growing a strong team of talented engineers to advance the system and achieve the growth plan. 

The Mechanical Design Engineer role is responsible for electro-mechanical design and development of AUV’s.  The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve supporting colleagues and will benefit from career development opportunities and excellent compensation.  The role will involve fieldwork and travel, with time spent at sea guaranteed.  Any required offshore training will be provided.  

Primary responsibilities:

• Join a small team developing underwater vehicles
• Work closely with mechanical, software and electrical engineers & production staff
• Work within projects to support R&D and production objectives
• Generating complex CAD models and drawings to BS 8888 is a core skill
• Develop and maintain a working understanding of the complete AUV system
• Assist in production technical documentation and manuals
• Work closely with production to ensure smooth transition from R&D to production
• Support personal and career development and activities of the ecoSUB engineering team

Essential skills:

• Relevant CAD experience, Autodesk Inventor preferable
• Engineering knowledge of hydrodynamics, mechanism design, electrical systems and wiring harnesses, payload integration
• Microsoft: Windows, Word, Excel, Teams

Desirable skills:

• FEA Nastran
• Be innovative, self-motivated and pro-active

Experience:

• Ideally minimum of two years of experience in relevant role
• Relevant degree
• Relevant experience of the design and manufacture of complex electro-mechanical systems, ideally within the marine environment
• Fluent in both written and spoken English
