Main Purpose of the Role

You will use your knowledge and expertise to promote a positive H&S culture in the workplace, while encouraging and training appropriate practices to comply with environmental obligations. You will work closely with other managers across the business.
Responsibilities
Specific Role Responsibilities
As a SHEQ Manager you will work Monday to Friday to:
- Take full responsibility for, and be the escalation point for, H&S at all [Employer hidden] sites
- Oversee the full H&S remit, from safety briefings and risk assessments through to strategy development and implementation in line with regulations
- Ensure [Employer hidden] Management Systems are always up to date and compliant
- Drive initiatives to mitigate and reduce operational risks
- Support and promote a positive safety culture
- Undertake operational tasks including:
- Risk assessments
- Site inspections
- Equipment installations
- Hazard Tag process management
- Record keeping, including accident monitoring, reporting, and improvements
- Chair monthly H&S meetings, documenting and addressing actions raised
- Monitor and report on SHEQ performance metrics
- Lead, support, and enforce appropriate training across all levels
- Maintain and update SHEQ documentation (policies, procedures, safety instructions)
- Work with the Compliance Manager to ensure ongoing compliance
- Support, lead and mentor Quality teams
- Keep up to date with all HSE legislation and relevant developments
- Manage workload efficiently with cost and time awareness
- Support a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation
- Ensure housekeeping and safe working environments are always maintained

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential:
- NEBOSH Qualified (or equivalent)
- Previous H&S or SHEQ Manager experience
- Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment (ideally food or packaging)
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Flexible, adaptable, and able to meet deadlines under pressure
- Proactive, able to work with minimal guidance
- IT proficiency (Outlook, Excel, Word)
Desirable:
- Negotiation, report writing, and presentation skills
- Team building and motivational skills
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 / 14001 / ISO 45001 / BRC standards
- Experience managing quality, health & safety, and environmental systems
- Lean Manufacturing, FMEA, Six Sigma
- Aluminium industry experience
